About
Coach Nick

I'm Nick Malicoat. I recently graduated high school and I'm continuing my education at the University of Akron while building Malicoat Basketball Training.
I started four years of varsity basketball at Medina Christian Academy. It's been a major part of my life, and now I want to take what I've learned and use it to help younger players get better.
I'm not going to pretend to be something I'm not. I'm a young trainer building something real — and what I bring is genuine attention, energy, and a commitment to actually working with your kid instead of handing them a drill and walking away.
What You Get From Me
I've been the player
I started four years of varsity basketball at Medina Christian Academy, so I understand what a player is feeling mid-rep — not just what the drill sheet says.
Fundamentals first
Footwork, balance, and form are what hold up when the game speeds up. We build there before anything else.
I lead by example
I'm on the floor demonstrating and working alongside the player — not standing off to the side pointing.
Energy and positivity
Sessions are high-energy and encouraging. Players work hard because they want to, not because they're being yelled at.
Training Philosophy
Every session is built around the individual player — their current skill level, their age, and what they're trying to get better at. There's no fixed program everybody gets pushed through.
My job is to make sure a player leaves knowing exactly what they need to work on and feeling motivated to go put in reps on their own. Improvement should be something you can feel over time, not something I just claim.
